KWL, KUD, Think-Pair-Square-Share, debate and Assessment

 

The students will be involved in a debate.   The student will learn how to develop affirmative and negative positions.

  1. outline of the classroom debate:
    First Affirmative Speech – 5 minutes
    Cross Examination – 3 minutes
    Negative Prep Time – 3 minutes
    First Negative Speech – 5 minutes
    Cross Examination – 3 minutes
    Affirmative Prep Time – 3 minutes
    Second Affirmative Speech – 3 minutes
    Negative Prep Time – 3 minutes
    Second Negative Speech – 3 minutes
    Affirmative Prep Time – 3 minutes
     
    Assessment:
     
    Using the debate rubric, the instructor along with moderators and students will assess their debates and those of their peers.
